Ausstellung: Jean Paul Gaultier - From the Sidewalk to the Catwalk
Als ich Mitte Jänner 2016 in München war, wurde mir der Besuch der in der Kunsthalle München laufenden Ausstellung Jean Paul Gaultier - From the Sidewalk to the Catwalk empfohlen. Eigentlich ein Muss für jeden Fotografen der sich mit Modefotografie und Portraitfotografie und beschäftigt.

Als ich Mitte Jänner 2016 in München war, wurde mir der Besuch der in der Kunsthalle München laufenden Ausstellung Jean Paul Gaultier - From the Sidewalk to the Catwalk empfohlen. Eigentlich ein Muss für jeden Fotografen der sich mit Modefotografie beschäftigt. Kurzentschlossen hab ich mir die Ausstellung zu Gemüte geführt und muss sagen ich war trotz anfänglicher Skepsis begeistert. Die Ausstellung zeigt über 140 seiner Kreationen beginnend mit den frühen 1970er Jahren bis heute. Ausgestellt werden Haute-Couture- und Prêt-à-Porter-Modelle ebenso wie Theater-, Tanz- und Filmkostüme.
Sehr beeindruckt hat mich die Präsentation seiner Werke, besonders die multimediale Inszenierung mit den scheinbar mit dem Betrachter interagierenden Schaufensterpuppen. Mittels Projektoren wurden Gesichter auf die Puppen projiziert, so spricht auch der Meister selbst mit den Besuchern. Was mich als Fotografen gefreut hat ist, dass auch viele Fotografien von Peter Lindbergh bis Steven Klein ausgestellt waren.
Die Ausstellung läuft noch bis 14. Februar 2016, wer also noch die Chance hat sollte diese nutzen und vorbeischauen. Hier ein paar Impressionen von meinem Spaziergang durch die Ausstellung:

The Austrian National Library is located in Vienna and is the largest library in Austria with 7.4 million items in its various collections. The library is located in the Hofburg Palace.

In 1722, Emperor Charles VI authorized the construction of a permanent home for the library in the Hofburg palace. The State Hall was built from 1723 to 1726. With its historic holdings in a library hall that is unparalleled in presenting the universality of knowledge, the Austrian National Library is among the world's most important libraries. Today the Prunksaal is accommodating about 200,000 volumes from the years 1501 to 1850.
Die sich in Wien befindliche Österreichische Nationalbibliothek (ÖNB) ist die größte öffentlich zugängliche, zentrale wissenschaftliche Bibliothek Österreichs. Die ÖNB ist in der Hofburg untergebracht. In den Sammlungen der Nationalbilbliothek befinden sich 7,4 Millionen Exponate.
Kaiser Karl VI. ließ 1722 ein Gebäude an die Hofburg für die Hofbibliothek bauen. Die in den Jahren 1723 – 1726 errichtete Bibliothek beherbergte in ihrem Prunksaal bis ins 19. Jahrhundert die Exponate der Hofbibliothek. Der barocke Prunksaal zählt zu den schönsten historischen Bibliotheken der Welt. Heute beherbergt der Prunksaal ca. 200.000 Bücher aus den Jahren 1501 bis 1850.

New Campus Vienna University of Economics and Business WU
In October 2009 the construction works of the new campus of the University of Economics and Business started in the 2nd district of Vienna, Leopldstadt.

The campus features 6 main building complexes resting on approximately 90.000m². The costs for the campus amount to 492 million Euro. The grand opening took place on 4th of October 2013. Im Oktober 2009 wurde begonnen im 2. Bezirk, Leopoldstadt, einen neuen Campus für die Wirtschaftsuniversität zu errichten. Die Grundstücksfläche des Campus WU mit 6 Gebäudekomplexen beträgt 90.000 m², die Kosten betrugen 492 Millionen Euro. Die feierliche Eröffnung fand am 4. Oktober 2013 statt. Im Februar 2011 verbrachten wir unseren Urlaub in Südafrika genauer gesagt zum Großteil in und um Kapstadt. Für uns war es die erste Reise nach Afrika und es war eine wunderschöner Urlaub auf einen wunderschönem Kontinent. In einer Serie von Posts möchte ich euch eine Auswahl von Bildern zeigen, die während unseres Aufenthalts entstanden sind.
On the second day of our holiday we made a day trip to the Aquila Game Reserve, a 7500 hectare conservancy in the Southern Karoo where you can see the "Big Five" which are elefant, buffalo, rhino, lion and cheetah. The Aquila Private Game Reserve is contributing to re-introduce endangered wildlife into the Cape region.
Am zweiten Tag unseres Urlaubs machten wir einen Tagesausflug in das Aquila Game Reserve, ein 7500 Hektar großes Schutzgebiet in der südlichen Karoo. Hier kann man die "Big Five" Elefant, Büffel, Nashorn, Löwe und Leopard beobachten. Das Aquila Game Reserve trägt zu Wiedereinführung von gefährdeten Tieren in der Kap-Region bei.

A famous tourist sight in Vienna is the Imperial Crypt. I know that the topic itself is not a light fare, but it is worth visiting - its a part of Austrian history.
A famous tourist sight in Vienna is the Imperial Crypt. I know that the topic itself is not a light fare, but it is worth visiting - its a part of Austrian history. The Imperial Crypt is a burial chamber beneath the Capuchin Church for members of the House of Habsburg. The last Habsburg buried in the crypt was Otto von Habsburg in 2011.
Eine bekannte Wiener Touristenattraktion ist die Kaisergruft. Ich weiss das Thema ist keine leichte Kost, aber als Teil der österreichischen Geschichte einen Besuch wert. Die unter der Kapuzinerkirche befindliche Kaisergruft ist die letzte Ruhestätte für Mitglider der Habsburger Familie. Otto von Habsburg war der bisher letzte Habsburger der im Jahr 2011 in der Gruft bestattet wurde.
Laxenburg Palace - Schloss und Schlosspark Laxenburg
On the first weekend of March, after a long and snowy winter, a perfect Sunday allowed the visit of the Laxenburg palace and the associated park.
A perfect Sunday allowed the visit of the Laxenburg palace and the associated park. The Laxenburg palace and the park were highly recommended to me and therefore I went there with my family. We did not get disappointed, the park was beautiful and there were many things to explore.
The Laxenburg palace and park are located near Vienna.The park and palace were built in the 13. century and owned by the peers of Lachsenburg. The Park and the buildings were extended in the following centuries by the Habsburgs. Until World War I the palace was used as the Spring residence of the Habsburgs. The park extents over an area of 250 hectar with a 25 hectar lake. The park contains many historic buildings like Franzens-castle, grünes Lusthaus, Concordiatempel, Turnierplatz, Haus der Laune, Felsengrotte, Rittergruft and Hofeiskeller. The Palace including its park are a popular place of excursion for the Viennese population and tourists. Ein wettertechnisch perfekter Sonntag war ein guter Grund zum Besuch des Schlossparks Laxenburg. Ich habe nur Positives über das Schloss Laxenburg und den angeschlossenen Schlosspark gehört, also meine Familie ins Auto gepackt und uns in Richtung Laxenburg in Bewegung gesetzt. Wir wurden nicht enttäuscht, der Park war, auch wenn die Natur noch nicht erwacht war, wunderschön und es gab vieles zu entdecken.
Der nahe Wien gelegene Schlosspark stammt wie das alte Schloss aus dem 13. Jahrhundert und war im Besitz der Herren von Lachsenburg. Bis zum Ersten Weltkrieg diente das Schloss neben dem neuen Schloss als Frühlingsresidenz der Habsburger. Der Schlosspark Laxenburg erstreckt sich über eine Fläche von ungefähr 250 Hektar und beherbergt den ca 25 Hektar großen Schlossteich. Im Park sind zahlreiche historische Bauten, wie die Franzensburg, das Grüne Lusthaus, der Concordiatempel, der Turnierplatz, das Haus der Laune (heute aber nurmehr eine Ruine), die Felsengrotte, die Rittergruft mit der Rittersäule und die Hofeiskeller. "Hoch Zwei" - A Modern Piece of Vienna's Architecture
On a foggy Sunday I was driving around Vienna searching for an object on which I could practice some shooting.
On a foggy Sunday I was driving around Vienna searching for an object on which I could practice some shooting. Because of the bad weather I was not very confident to find something adequate. But at the time when I wanted to stop my search I passed the OMV headquarter (OMV: Austrian oil and gas company) called "Hoch Zwei" (see http://www.viertel-zwei.at/index1.php?lang=1) which is located in the 2nd district near Prater and Exhibitions Messe Wien.I had noticed this building before, but this time I wanted to explore it in detail, therefore I parked my car, grabbed my camera and started shooting.
The 23 story building with 80 meters height and a "concavo-convex body with glass front and upward expanding curving outline" (architect slang) invited to test different points of view. As the pictures show, the different point of views are creating very interesting perspectives with converging and diverging lines, shapes and curves. Because of the cloudy almost white sky the building is silhouetted from the background and the focus is on the building with its structures and forms.
An einem nebligen Sonntag fuhr ich durch Wien, auf der Suche nach einem Objekt an dem ich mich fotografisch etwas austoben könnte. Aufgrund des schlechten Wetters war meine Hoffnung nicht sehr groß etwas entsprechendes zu finden. Doch als ich die Suche schon fast abbrechen wollte fuhr ich am ÖMV-Gebäude vorbei. Das Gebäude, auch "Hoch Zwei" (siehe http://www.viertel-zwei.at/index1.php?lang=1) genannt, befindet sich im 2. Bezirk nahe dem Wiener Prater und der Messe Wien. Zwar habe ich dieses Gebäude beim Vorbeifahren schon öfters wahrgenommen, aber diesmal wollte ich mir das Teil mal genauer ansehen-also Parkplatz gesucht, die Kamera gegriffen und los gings.
Das Gebäude mit 80 Metern Höhe und 23 Geschossen und seiner "konkav konvexen Gebäudeskulptur mit Glasfassade und nach sich oben aufweitenden, geschwungene Grundrissfigur" (Architektensprache) lädt zum Ausprobieren verschiedenster Blickwinkel ein. Wie die Fotos zeigen entstehen dadurch sehr interessante Perspektivern mit zusammen- und auseinanderlaufenden Linien, Flächen und Kurven. Durch den bewölkten nahezu weißen Himmel hebt sich das Hochhaus sehr gut vom Hintergrund ab und der Fokus bleibt auf dem Gebäude mit seinen Strukturen und Formen.
